It’s good to know there is one place you can go to that will let you convert an insane number of file types without downloading software.
My new favorite site: Online-Convert.com
They even have their own API, if you want to make your own little tools, using their system.

The major issue is that creating an ASE file is stupid.
3Ds Max makes .ASE files, and 3Ds Max is for fools.
From now on, we make our own fonts…
Where dynamic text meets PhotoShop design text only the Kerning for the font is a nightmare as the “T”,”A”,”V”,”W” aren’t kerned properly and either smear against neighboring letters or create wide chasms of empty space.

Where the fonts run free and usually have all characters included.
If nothing else, we can create our own font using online tools such as: http://www.yourfonts.com/ , http://fontstruct.com/ , http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fontface/generator , or spend a week in Corel Draw–with only a bottle of whiskey and a loaded pistol keeping you company, just like we did in the old days.

Trying to help get my ideas across in an email,
about 20 bullet points in, the diagram seemed like a better idea. 
On a slightly side note, I’m more and more intregued with Faraday’s lines of force… not because of the science, but because Faraday was “math illiterate” and had to just draw out what he thought was going on. The response from the scientific community was that ART > MATH, being able to diagram what you are thinking apparently trumps equations.
