Where dynamic text meets PhotoShop design text only the Kerning for the font is a nightmare as the “T”,”A”,”V”,”W” aren’t kerned properly and either smear against neighboring letters or create wide chasms of empty space.

The main thing is the new pencil set (black and blue lead): “K World”? Mechanical Drawing Pencils– they are stupidly fun to draw with:

The markers go on like a coat of paint, they are pretty awesome as well–the photo of the marker test taken from my iPhone is just a smear.

The white pencils for highlight are good… however there is something that is damn near perfect (besides whiteout which is too unpredictable) is white ink (next pay-check).

And with more work comes less computing power. So now that my work load has doubled, the powers that be have wisely decided to take away one of my computers (I got to choose, so I picked the lap-top). So now I am 25% as efficient as I was a month ago (if my math is correct). I am waiting for them to start keeping boxes in my cubical. but I have taken this opportunity to clean & organize my desk:

A. Stanford Hat (from my lady) because she wishes I went to a better school. Not that I graduated, just that I had at least went. That’s right University of Central Arkansas, no one gives a shit about your football team. What was it, the Bears? I don’t even remember.

B. Panasonic® RP HTX7 Headphones. They have an amazing sound quality, and when worn, looks like I was shot through the head with a lime. You can get them online now for under $30!

C. My 2.4 GHz Intel core 2 Duo MacBook Pro. It is the fastest, and biggest laptop in the company. Suck it executives, it’s mine now!

D. That awesome thin mac keyboard. It’s like some sort of 1960s phycological test, every-time I miss a key I get a shock. Great fucking design Apple!

E. Wacom Intuos tablet. If you don’t have a wacom tablet, your computer is just a toy.

F. Reach® Total Care Fresh Mint Floss. It is pink.

G. The Right side of my pair of Edifier speakers. Yes it is on the wrong side, but that is where the headphone jack is. No, I don’t wanna use the headphone jack on the laptop. Because.

H. Leather bound pho-book containing Bacardi Gold rum. Why Gold? Because if it were any other Bacardi flavor it would already be drunk.

I. Various items:

K. One big ass monitor. What is that 24″? Whatever it is, it is a Dell. It’s got a bunch of random shit that comes with it too… 4 USB ports, card slots… It can rotate 180 degrees on the Z axis. Possibly as perfect a monitor as I will ever use (unless I get a Mac Monitor their majesty cannot be denied).

L. Justin Bua painting of a dude on Piano. Yes it is the original, given to me by Joe Lazaro. Because he is rolling in that freelance designer money & he is single ladies!

M. A shelf containing one live sheep (depending on your understanding of quantum physics and the book “The Little Prince”).

N. Off screen (my mini bar). Currently stocked with primarily Apple Vodka, Johnny Walker, and Patrón.

O. One of a set of hand crafted Japanese clay cups given to me by Bernice Chao. It is mostly used for Tea, but lately smells like liquor. (Today it was filled with peas!)

As you know Priuses are hybrids, meaning they run on gas when they are not running on unicorn farts and baby wishes (I’m low on unicorn farts).

So I have a rental.

I would think that when you take a car to the dealer (because I am MADE of money) they would give you a good car to barrow.  Why not give people brand new cars to drive… It’s a dealership, they are filthy with new cars. They can say, “how did you like the 2053 Prius? Doesn’t it make your current car feel like crap? Don’t you want the new shiny car? Why don’t we just trash your current car (since we lost it anyway) and buy this awesome new thing?” I think that would work a lot better then, “Here is your rental, don’t mind the man sleeping in the back, and have it here by 5:00, our gardener needs it to go home.”

I haven’t used Windows since Vista… where I almost immediately said “time for a mac”. Now I have my little 10″ Dell with Windows 7. I must say I am having a very hard time with the lack of… love? Microsoft always acted like it didn’t really like it’s users, but now it’s obvious that it just hates them. It’s the little things that really bug me:

“I’m afraid that you can’t change the background with Windows 7 Starter Edition. It’s a limitation of the Starter Edition and as I understand it, can’t be gotten around.”

When you buy the Mac Operating System, you don’t buy a version of it, there is only one OS, and it costs around $30. The Microsoft OS costs $90 – $900 depending on which version you want, and you have to deal with crappy limitations on each version–the upside is that Windows typically runs slower and is not as secure as the Mac OS.

Right now, I am really considering putting OSX on this little guy. Is it worth losing WiFi and Sound? I think I will wait for a little while before my final decision on this…

But I’ve been wanting to make a hackentosh for a while, and basically building a MacBook Air for around $300 sounds very tempting.

Some of these Del Mini’s are actually OSX ready out of the box, so maybe it’s a matter of finding the right drivers before I start.
